Profound, Quick Onset, Long-Lasting and Cost-Effective Anesthesia
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN, EXCHANGE OR REFUND.
Mechanism of action
The combination of benzocaine (which provides a quick onset within 30 seconds), tetracaine hydrochloride (offering a slower onset for an extended duration of 30 to 60 minutes), and butamben (acting as an intermediate action bridge) works by reversibly blocking nerve conduction. The speed and duration of action are determined by these agents’ ability to absorb into the mucous membrane and nerve sheath and then diffuse out.

Directions for use
Adults
- Remove and discard the shipping cap, and replace it with a Luer-lock dispensing cap. You should not remove the dispensing cap once in place.
- Remove the small cap from the Luer-lock port. Retain for replacement after use.
- Lock a delivery syringe onto the port.
- Invert the bottle and slowly draw liquid (0.4 mL maximum) into the syringe. If air becomes drawn into the syringe, push the liquid back into the bottle and slowly redraw the liquid into the syringe.
- Holding the bottle upright, remove the syringe from the port and replace the small port cap.
- Attach a microcapillary delivery tip to the syringe. You may bend the tip to improve access.
- Place tip sub-gingivally and apply drop-wise to the accessible mucous membrane (such as the buccal and lingual sulcus) by slowly depressing the syringe plunger.
- Wait one minute for complete anesthesia before beginning the procedure.
Superior Ingredients vs Other Products
Clinical tips
- For optimal use, apply Cetacaine® on two to three teeth at a time. If necessary, reapply until the pain is controlled without exceeding 0.4 mL.
- It’s recommended to use a microbrush when periodontal pocketing is not deep but the tissues are inflamed and sensitive. Place a few drops of Cetacaine® in a dappen dish and apply with a microbrush by running it along the sulcus.
Warnings
Never use for injection. Do not administer to patients who are hypersensitive to any ingredients or patients who have cholinesterase deficiencies. Should not be used under dentures or cotton rolls, as retention of the active ingredients could cause an escharotic effect.
